Polish Association of Heat Energy (Polskie Towarzystwo Energetyki Cieplnej), ab. PTEC

Polish Association of Heat Energy (Polskie Towarzystwo Energetyki Cieplnej), ab. PTEC is an organization representing the district heating industry in front of public administration, domestic and foreign authorities and international organizations. It has been established in 1991 and brings together the largest heat and electricity producers in Poland. Our members supply approximately 60% of the heat to domestic district heating systems.

The Association advocate for an energy transition of the district heating sector towards climate neutrality. It promotes cogeneration – the combined production of electricity and heat in a single process. It works to increase the use of renewable energy sources in heat production and as well as modern heat storage technologies. As a substantive partner of government and local government administration, PTEC actively participates in legislative processes, public consultations, and public debates.

Goals of the Society:

Identifying problems related to the generation and use of electric and thermal energy that go beyond the individual interests of the Society’s members, and presenting ways to solve these problems.

Promoting the combined heat and power sector as a modern and most efficient way of producing electricity and heat.

Creating opportunities to obtain funding for the development and investment activities of enterprises.

Creating the most favorable legal and economic conditions for the functioning of the electricity and heat energy market.

Promoting knowledge about the latest technical and technological achievements.

Since its establishment, the Society has used the following means to achieve the above objectives:

It actively participates in the process of creating legal regulations and systemic solutions concerning the energy sector by providing opinions on draft legislation or taking part in their development, also at the level of European Union regulations.

It submits numerous initiatives to the highest state administration authorities, pointing out both ways of solving problems and proposing new solutions in the fields of legislation, economics, technology, and organization.

It cooperates with other industry associations, organizations, and national and international institutions.

It delegates its members to work in various sectoral thematic teams.

It organizes or co-organizes conferences and seminars addressing topics important to the energy sector community.

It co-finances the implementation of numerous projects.
